Terrific fan - I’d get another in a second
Does just as advertised. Strong, quiet, moves a lot of air around. At the moment (temp in 90s all this week) I’m sleeping with a window a/c on low and this fan moving air around not only the room it’s in but into connected spaces. Works beautifully. Keeps things cool with just a touch of ac to lower the air temp slightly. Even on medium easy to sleep through (and I’m a light sleeper). I also bought an ARA for stronger air movement on first floor. That’s a different beast for a different purpose (move air longer distance). I may also get another of these because it works so well at what it’s supposed to do. Vornado customer service (needed for ARA, not this) is fantastic.

Vornado Model 660: A Good Performer and Worth the Money
Vornado Model 660 Fan: Vornado fans are not necessarily inexpensive fans, but I think they are worth the money. The model 660 is currently one of their largest floor models, and can move a lot of air. Right now, in the middle of being under a heat dome with temperatures reaching the high 90's and up to 100 degrees, I have been using mine constantly - sometimes by itself, and other times in conjunction with the AC. This Vornado 660 has four speeds; I found the lowest speed to be very quiet. As you increase the speed, the fan is understandably louder - as it would be with any fan. This fan does not oscillate, but you can change the angle from pointing down to the floor to up toward the ceiling. It is also supposed to be easy to open up to clean the blades, but I cannot comment on that yet, since I have only had the fan about two weeks.

A Pleasant Intro to Vornado
This fan has pros and cons, but is overall an absolute powerhouse. Airflow is very strong; it successfully keeps me cool and comfortable in my office that regularly reaches 80 degrees. Speed settings are pretty minimal (there are only 3.) As far as noise level goes, they range from somewhat loud-ish, to very loud. It's pretty basic: no oscillation, no remote, no timers, nothing. It's just a fan. Although the fan is primarily made out of plastic, it is pretty heavy and seems durable. Although it's pretty expensive for the small size, I'm absolutely loving this thing. Since purchasing this fan, I've purchased 2 more Vornado fans (a pedestal fan, and another small fan like this) through other sources and love those as well.

Simply the best
Simply put, this fan is the best you can get. Vornado is such a great company with the warranty they provide and their products have an amazing reputation. I have two of these fans and they help tremendously in the summer when it is very hot. I have central air and it is so expensive to run. The unit is from the late 90s before energy efficient were two words you’d put in a row. This helps move air around the room extremely well and keep you comfortable. Pro trick is to aim it above head level towards where your wall and ceiling meet. With two of these even at full speed which is really powerful, they cost cents a day, and help save you money. Not too loud noise level, and generous cord length too. Highly recommend!

Fantastic But Flawed.
The Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator is an impressive but flawed appliance. I own several of these, the largest model in this series of Vornado’s lineup, and they largely live up to their advertised claims. They deliver powerful air circulation, effectively cooling and moving air throughout large spaces. For the most part, their performance is reliable and consistent. However, one significant drawback prevents this fan from being a perfect fit for modern households: the absence of any remote operation capability, not smart home ready. Sadly, can't never be integrated into any smart home environment.Unlike some of Vornado’s other models that feature mechanical turning knobs, the 660 relies on push buttons, which are incompatible with remote outlets, smart plugs, or any form of remote control. It will always return to off state, when regain power, during power interruption. This limitation is particularly frustrating for those who prioritize home automation. For comparison, Vornado’s next closest model in size, the VFAN Sr., costs around $250 and still doesn’t offer robust remote operation options, but at least, it has a turning knob (excluding their pedestal model fans). Additionally, the premium version of this exact fan (660 AE) has Amazon smart home integration, and it is practically useless, as it locks users into a single, underwhelming ecosystem that lacks flexibility. Why would anyone wants more open microphone from mega corp all over their home anyway. In my home, I rely on smart outlets (Wi-Fi or Zigbee) and a Node-RED automation script to activate appliances based on indoor temperature and humidity levels. Unfortunately, the Vornado 660’s capacitive controls make it incompatible with these setups (SwitchBot isn't a viable or reliable method either). When selecting home appliances, I prioritize models with physical turning knobs, as they work seamlessly with smart plugs and remote switches. For instance, Holmes' appliances often incorporate mechanical knobs, making them far more automation-friendly.I suspect Vornado is fully aware of this limitation but chooses not to address it, likely because the 660 sells exceptionally well as is. If a product is already a bestseller, why invest in changes? However, this intentional design choice feels like a disservice to buyers seeking modern convenience. I would love to purchase more of these large units for their powerful and amazing performance, but the lack of viable remote operation has pushed me to explore alternatives. One such alternative is the Lasko Wind Machine Air Circulator Fan (20" Model 3300), which offers a 20-inch blade and mechanical on/off knobs at roughly half the price of the Vornado 660. The lower cost was a bonus, but my decision was driven by its compatibility with my smart home setup. I value flexibility in controlling my appliances, whether through remote dial dimmers, rocker or capacitive switches, voice commands, environmental triggers (like temperature or humidity), motion sensors, door contacts, millimeter-wave presence detectors, or infrared remote controls. Unfortunately, none of these smart home devices or switches can operate the Vornado 660.Would I recommend the Vornado 660? If you’re content with a “dumb” appliance that requires manual interaction to turn on or off, this fan is an excellent choice for its power, performance and reliability. However, if you’re like me and prefer the convenience and versatility of smart home automation, steer clear of this particular model. Its lack of remote operation options makes it a poor fit for those who want a fan that integrates seamlessly into a modern, connected home. This will never operate remotely through any means within a smart home automation environment.

High powered - small footprint
Very nice high powered fan with a small footprint. The 3 lower speeds are pretty quiet, the loudest speed is quite loud, BUT it moves air like no other fan of its size. I use it to move air from my hallway into my living room. Makes a noticeable difference.
