They did smell like soap when I first opened the box. They smelled so much like soap that I was afraid to try them. I was afraid they were going to make my bedroom smell like some lavender soap on fire or something. I took the chance and lit one.I’m glad I gave these a chance. I have no clue why they smell so different when burning than when sitting around. It’s not the same smell at all. They do not smell like the essential oil though. It still smells similar to lavender but not the essential oil.They do help me relax.

Do not be fooled by the strong aromatic smell of the box - before I unpackaged my order, I thought the smell was too strong and did not have the lavender scent I wanted. I requested to return the item as the packaging is still intact, but instead, Aroma Valley graciously asked me to keep and try their product. While I was timid to give it a go, I unboxed the package and lit a stick - oh was I wrong! Not only did I get the lavender smell I wanted, but the scent was also so light and so airy - it was the perfect combination of what I was looking for.I highly recommend Aroma Valley for several reasons:1. excellent customer service2. fantastic communication3. perfect productThank you, Aroma Valley.

The smells are amazing! They just don’t give you 50+ sticks like they say. So, count your sticks!

These smell fantastic and burn for a decent amount of time. Not too fakey or soapy like a lot of ylang ylang incense. I only wish they were separated by scent instead of all together. They are distinct when they burn, but in the bag they all smell the same. Would buy again though!

Sent are clear and easy to read, even before opening the box it smelled great.My most common issue with incents online is them breaking on the way, or not being able to read the sents. Not a problem with this set! We'll made sticks, clean wrapper bags closed with a little sticker.I will say I don't believe they burn for an hour, but all the rooms in my place have ceiling fans so that normally cuts down time on incents too.

I agree with another reviewer about the scent being way too strong it gives you a headache. I am an avid incense user & usually get a variety pack but was excited for the Lavender & Lilac but these DO NOT smell like either scent it is closer to a rose scent. I have Lilac bushes and the scent isn’t even close.I am returning these in hopes to find a better lavender or lilac scented incense. The only positive comment is they do burn longer than any other incense I have ever purchased in my lifetime. I am not sure why this has 4.5 stars b/c reading the reviews was my deciding factor to try them & since it had that many stars I assumed it must be good but the 4.5 stars are not deserved for this particular scent. If you like an extremely strong scent that may give you a headache & is more like a rose floral scent give it a try.
