Beautiful book

I use Olly's Short Stories in English to tutor students in English as a Second Language. His method of learning a foreign language by reading for pleasure on your level is brilliant and it works. If you follow the advice on how to how best to read this book as explained in the introduction, you WILL improve. After my students read to themselves first, they then read to me and we review the vocabulary words at the end of the chapter together, in addition, to correctly pronouncing any words they needed help with. Then, they read the chapter again with an even better understanding and they love it. They hear they're own progress and I remind them to listen out for similar conversational phrases that they've read in the book, in real life conversations around them. I also use Olly's Short Stories in Italian for myself and purchased the Spanish and French versions as I've become totally motivated to enhance my linguistic abilities overall. This book is absolutely terrific!

When you're an intermediate student in a language, learning resources become not only tough to find. They tend to be ...... boring!But this collection, which I was delighted to grab for my Kindle, has all the great features of other story collections by Olly that I've enjoyed in both Spanish and German. The stories use colloquial language so that you're getting exposure to the way people speak in situations that they actually live.Highly recommended. I have the print copy of his German short story book, so imagine this one looks just as cool as a paperback.

It has written in easy and everyday words so it would be very useful for foreignerswho wants to have a good command of English and even very amusing itself.There is an interesting correlation between the independent storiesin the middle of the book. I'm pretty sure it's writer's intentiontion andI found it very funny.

As I was preparing for IELTS, this book helped me concentrate on keywords and phrases to pick the correct answer. This book had rich vocabulary which you can add to your collections. I would recommend this book to anyone who has thought of ways to improve his/her English with reading short stories.

I love this book! I tutor in ESL and it is the perfect book for my intermediate student. The stories are very manageable and of high interest. My student is enjoying reading the stories.

Moreover, each story features a different genre so you simply can't get bored. Stories are divided into chapters with a summary and a comprehension check, which helps the learners to get the most of every single part of the story.If you want to improve your English vocabulary while having fun reading, then this book is just for you! The language is easy to comprehend yet creates vivid images.I did find these stories funny and entertaining, rich in real-life English expressions. An engaging blend of genres, unusual characters and unexpected twists made me feel curious and didn't let me stop reading until the very end.I highly recommend this book as a MUST READ for every English learner, but I am strongly determined that not only the learners, even the native speakers could benefit from reading this book.

Very good book for English learners

I purchased this book as a gift for my Stepmother. My Stepmother is from the Philippines and wanted the opportunity to master her command of English more effectively. My Stepmother had really enjoyed reading this book and learning to understand the many eccentricities of the English Language.
