Overall I would recommend this product to someone looking to learn crochet! Personally I had issues learning from the text/visuals displayed in the booklet, but luckily the booklet includes a QR code that routes you to a video, and that aided me immensely. I took the leap and it paid off!

This is a fun beginner's kit for crocket. I got this for a friend's kid but also tried it myself. It has all you need to make a scarf, although I would like to suggest that a beginner makes a sample first - a 30 loop chain, no more, then make a square on that. There is enough yarn there for lots of trials. Also for the scarf, start on the narrow edge, and make this as long as you need, do not start on the long edge (with 126 loops - which is what the instructions recommend). Fun toy!

Well this did get me to start crocheting but I had trouble following the instructions and ultimately used you-tube videos. It’s really hard to demonstrate something like this through illustrations.I would also prefer a heavier gauge yarn and a metal hook for beginners. The wooden hook catches on the yarn and I had to sand it down a bit.

As a beginner, I appreciate the enthusiasm conveyed by this kit. I really wanted to like it, but (1) the fuzzy yarn, though pretty and soft, is NOT easy to learn on - a flat yarn without the shimmer threads is best for newbies; (2) there are much better videos online than this; and (3) as mentioned, the bamboo crochet needle lacks weight and smoothness - you will want to replace it almost right away!

While this kit is a bit more expensive than others, it is geared to adults rather than to children. The two skeins of yarn included are heavenly. Soft and not itchy at all. Lovely color. While other kits may focus on simple projects like washcloths (does anyone actually use crocheted washcloths?), this kit is for a scarf. Which I will use. BTW, great customer service if you have questions.

The media could not be loaded.  This is an ok for beginners crochet kit. Bought it to teach my daughter. The bamboo hook was splintered so it kept catching the yarn on the side. The instructions and pictures are good for explanations on how to do a chain and double crochet. But it doesn’t give actual instructions for a pattern to make a scarf. It tells you how to do the stitch but no where does it say how many to chain, how many rows, no explanation on reading a pattern, which I guess makes sense since there is no pattern. But is it supposed to go length wise for the chain or up the side until it’s long enough? Who knows? We don’t. Also the yarn is very slick but tangles easily. Would not recommend for a true beginner

I bought this for a friend of mine as a thank-you gift. She opened up the box while we were chatting, glanced at the instructions, and started crocheting. She never did this before, and it was fun to see that, after 1-2 rather awkward attempts, she was able to produce, to her delight, a few really nice rows. The yarn is a beige-golden color, a bit shiny, soft and pleasant. I think it's a great gift for those who never tried crafts of this kind before.
