Fantastic Pressure Cooker for Beginners
I bought the 12 Litre version for canning meat. The cooker comes with a tray for the bottom so you don't need to buy an extra rack to place the jars on.The jars I used for canning were the 500ml Kilner Mason jars - the cooker will fit 7 of these in one batch.I will try the 1litre jars next as they should fit comfortably in the cooker. If you measure the depth of the cooker WITH the rack inside it is 19cm so jars under this height should fit in for canning.Once the correct pressure has been achieved, it was easy to maintain the pressure in the cooker for the whole cook time - I was surprised at how low you can turn the gas on the stove to maintain this pressure.Letting the pressure out after the cook was easy - just press on the valve at the top till it stops hissing and the lid comes off easily. My first batch of canning meat was a success with no breakages or failed seals. I'm chuffed to bits with this cooker. If this is your first time at trying out canning: it is really easy, but make sure you read, read, read about it first so you can learn from other people's troubleshooting so that your first batch goes as well as mine did. There are loads of forums out there with great hints and tips. Always read the instruction manual from start to finish for your type of cooker to make sure you have all the safety information you need

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Hotel Pressure Cooker - Review
I used this all last winter for cooking, its a first class product that performs perfectly in my view, I can cook everything I need very quickly and it keeps myself and my wife eating for almost a week as its very large, so if you want to save time cooking large quantities of stew for example this product does it very well, I recon it will last me many years ! It it not cheap however all good high quality products are not cheap.

Excellent & Easy to Use
Beautiful to look at, simple to use and I am glad i went with my instinct to purchase the larger size as some ingredients only allow you to half fill the cooker and as I cook in bulk then freeze, some of the smaller versions would only cook limited quantities. Best bit of advice was you can cook smaller quantities in a larger model but you can't cook larger quantities in the smaller one! You will need space to store this size as it is a big pan, not as heavy as I expected, the lid being the heaviest part. It is not dishwasher safe, which is a bit of a bind, cooks in about a third of the time. I also cook things that require longer times then depresssure to add other ingredients, sometimes doing this twice, easy peasy.

Great! - when it's working properly...
I bought my Kuhn Rikon 12 litre Duromatic five months ago, and so I have had plenty of time to evaluate its pros and Cons.Over the course of the past 30 years I have owned many different brands of pressure cooker (Tower, Fagor, Butterfly - and others). They have all suffered from one fault: they leak steam. I live on a small boat, and steam is one of my worst enemies. Steam hitting the side of the boat condenses and makes everything wet.The Kuhn Rikon is the first pressure cooker I have ever owned which doesn't leak large amounts of steam during the process of building up pressure. Of course, this also means that it comes up to pressure more quickly- and that's another plus! Why have I only awarded this product 4 stars? Because although, when I first used it, the cooker behaved impeccably, it very quickly developed a fault. It now leaks steam while building up pressure. The steam leaks, not from the escape valve but from the seal on the lid.I've recently written to Kuhn Rikon, and if they manage to resolve this issue I will add the other star - because when it is working properly this pressure cooker is the unrivalled, state of the art device!

This is an absolutely fantastic pressure cooker
This is an absolutely fantastic pressure cooker. We often cook beef which can take up to 1.5 hours to cook thoroughly so that it is tender but with the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, we are done by 30 minutes and that is with the gas turned to the minimum setting (after pressure is achieved). I have been thoroughly impressed with this unit. I had originally been a little concerned that the lid might shoot off or something. But those fears were unfounded! This is a great device which saves not only time but a lot of gas which ultimately saves us money. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it is HEAVY!!! But despite that my wIfe has been impressed enough to ask for another one but of a slightly smaller size.

WORTH EVERY PENNY
I have never had a pressure cooker before and thought hard before I invested in this expensive one. It is a pleasure to cook with, not at all frightening [I was expecting lots of noise and steam] and has become one of the most used items in my kitchen. I opted for the large one to make stocks and stews etc in quantity but I am now also going to buy a smaller one to knock up quick, tasty meals for just the two of us. i will definitely get this brand again: the build quality is excellent.
