Q: What grit would this count as? Also does stropping remove much metal from the knife?

Our green polish is pure chromium oxide, which is generally 20,000-30,000 grit, what we consider a "medium" grit. Stropping removes very little material, just microscopic bits; it works best on blades that are properly ground and aligned, as a final step to take your knife from "sharp" to "very sharp."

Q: What's the size of the strop?

The strop is around 8 inches long and 1.25 inches wide.

Q: I can not evenly put on the provided compound. There is always some spots on the leather looks much thinner than other places. Is it ok?

Yes, this is fine. Our polish does NOT contain wax, a common ingredient in strop compounds that makes it easy to spread, but also clogs and ruins a strop over time. The pores of the leather will absorb plenty, it doesn't have to look perfect. Thanks for shopping with American Made Upgrades!

Q: Is this really 2.25" wide? It looks like about 1". And the thickness looks nothing like the 0.2 inch that is claimed. What are the real dimensions?

Mine is a little over an inch and 1/4 wide and is very thin glued to the wooden handle. It comes with some very good polishing wax however. For the money, it’s certainly worth buying but the dimensions are misleading because it’s 2.25 wide counting the wooden handle.
