HGLRC M100-5883 GPS Compass Module, Upgraded 10th Generation Chip Compatible with FPV Fixed-Wing UAV

Nice quality GPS. Locks on 12-18 sats. I'm not neccessarily using it for a drone build at the moment, more of an experiment but it's doing what I need it to. Nice chip.

Setup was a breeze, it takes about 60-90 seconds to get 8+ satellites. I usually end up with 12-15 connected. When I take a few minutes in between batteries and power back on, it almost immediately picks the satellites right back up.I would recommend this to anyone that wants a high quality GPS module.

Works flawlessly on my Pixhawk 2.4.8. Quick sat acquisition.

A Tiny Titan for FPV BuildsI've been building FPV drones for a while now, and the HGLRCM 100 GPS unit has become my absolute go-to for reliable positioning.Pros:Lightning-fast Satellite Lock: Compared to my old BN-880, the HGLRCM 100 acquires a lock in what feels like half the time. It's ready to fly almost as soon as I power up.Rock-solid Tracking: The GPS tracking is incredibly accurate and maintains a strong signal even during aggressive maneuvers. My old BN-880 used to drop satellites during aerobatics, but the HGLRCM 100 just keeps chugging along.Compact Size: The small form factor makes it easy to fit into tight builds.Integrated Compass: No need for a separate compass module, which saves space and simplifies wiring.Cons:wiring: First time I wired up this unit I put the wiring harness in backwards there's one side that goes to the GPS unit and one side that goes to the flight controller however they are not labeled so be careful and watch out.Overall:If you're looking for a top-notch GPS unit for your FPV builds, the HGLRCM 100 is a fantastic choice. It's fast, accurate, compact, and reliable. Whether you're flying freestyle or long-range, this GPS won't let you down. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Pros: good pricing, lock quickly.Cons: pinout order is inconsistent comparing to other vendor; False advertising about min voltage 3.3V, does not work at all at 3.3V. It requires at least 3.7V to operate normally.

So I, like many, believed the good reviews and the fact that this device has the same part number as Matek GPS's do and bought some because the price is so good compared to the Matek. Well that is where the similarity ends - every last one that I tried took a full 3 plus minutes to find 4 satellites and after 5 minutes hadn't locked on the required 6 to arm the bird. And even after "locking on" it lost satellites so fast that I usually can't maintain a lock that allows me to use autolaunch. So if your application isn't for a flying machine you might be fine but if you want to use this to save your aircraft in the event of an emergency it will likely cost you your plane/quadcopter as its poor quality defeats the whole purpose of it.

Other reviews suggested it wouldn’t work with their flight controller, but it seems likely they did not wire it correctly. The cable it comes with needs modified/re-pinned for your FC. TX/RX need swapped, and the SCL/SDA pins are straight through. When wired correctly and baud rate set to 115200, it is auto detected by ardupilot, and calibrates as normal. Gets 3D lock in a few seconds inside my house. I’m using it with ardupilot and a speedybee F405 wing app.
