Operation Petticoat [DVD]

Watched this film again recently and I forgot just how funny and well-made it was. Grant and Curtis are excellent, and the cast works extremely well together. Bought this as a gift and the person loved the moving. For anyone who has not viewed this movie, get it.

A truly fabulous WWII comedy. We highly recommend it.

I really liked seeing this movie when it came out. So when I seen it on DVD I had to get it. Very fun movie to watch, great cast.

Funny movie. Cary Grant and Tony Curtis are great in this movie.

Great actors, a bit cheesy storyline, but it's an oldies movie and if you're used to the action and acting of today, I think you'll still want to rent this one.

Cary Grant stars as the captain, Tony Curtis is for all purposes his leading Lady in this romp about a run down submarine amid ww2, who pick up 5 women, and with all those men aboard this pink, yes I said pink submarine...there is bound to be laughs...This was a real hit at the box office only third to Ben Hur and Psychi that year...Enjoy!

Very happy with this buy , a little expensive but the quality and sound were excellent and not what some of the other reviews said

優れた芸術家はインタビューではなく作品で答えを出すと言うが俳優もまた映画で答えを出すというお手本が本作。1950年代「ケイン号の反乱」「海底２万マイル」「ミスタア・ロバーツ」「眼科の敵」とう海軍物や潜水艦物の傑作が作られたがケーリー･グラントとしては“どうせならもっとはじけた映画を作ろう”と思ったのであろう。プロローグのパールハーバー（真珠湾奇襲）は本格的な迫力で続く破損した潜水艦をグラントが陣頭指揮を取って修理するシーンは独立プロを立ち上げたグラント自身の情熱も反映されており喜劇であるが感動すら覚える。本作から喜劇に進出したトニー･カーティスのお調子者副官も本領発揮でまるで後年「大脱走」のジェームズ･ガーナーのお手本になったのではないか？と思わせるキャラである。ジョーン・オブライエンやダイナ･メリルといった女優さんを乗組員に入れるのもグラントらしい楽しさでアーサー・オコンネルの偏屈おじさんも安定感ある。ラッセル･ハーランの撮影も良く2時間があっという間の会心作。監督に新人だったブレイク･エドワーズを抜擢したが本作が大当たりしその後「ピンクパンサー」シリーズ等で1960年代以降の喜劇界をリードする事になったのはグラントに先見の明があったからでしょう。
