This works as advertised. I made the mistake of not really reading thoroughly enough to realize it wouldn't test a specific function I needed to test. I wound up buying a different tester for that purpose, but this particular tester still has a place on my bench..Know what you are trying to test for, what requirements you need to meet, and you should find this is the tool for you.

This is an excellent product for monitoring the charging rates to two devices through their different charging cables/plugs, and to optimally direct small solar panels towards the sun for maximum outputs! I've now bought many of these DROK meters because they are so useful for my different devices, and are great gifts to give to your friends!This little unit is perfect for checking both the amps and volts simultaneously delivered to two devices (plug in one device (port 1) and record the amps drawn, then plug in the second device (port 2) and subtract the total amps drawn by both devices from those drawn by the first device).Port 1 is for both charging and data transfer, while port 2 is for charging only!I have both the AboveTek and DROK meters which appear to be identical (both were not labeled with the company name, but now DROK has added their name to this product). Both meters show volts and amps in bright digital LED red and blue, respectively, and measure a wide volt and amp range. I now use these all the time to monitor the charge voltage and current of all of my devices to ensure the optimal charge rate. There is no switch to show the volts and amps output for USB port 1 and USB port 2 separately. Many meters on the market only measure amps, don't have the short and very useful cable attached, and in some of them the meter window is very annoyingly upside-down.N.B. Another warning these fast charge cables have a number of criticisms regarding the robustness of their connectors (see reviews in Amazon)] While I'm not an engineer, I think that it would be quite difficult for an engineer to design and produce a very robust and inexpensive micro USB connector that would work on all the massive range of different micro USB products from the different companies! Thus, it seems that you should treat all USB charging cables with care!I have tested these PortaPow and Mediabridge fast charging cables and they do what they claim, but it is important to appreciate that fast USB charging generates more heat, which may ultimately shorten the life of the device's battery.I have therefore found the AboveTek (generally more expensive than DROK) and DROK USB meters very useful to assess the charge rates into multiple USB devises through different fast (e.g. Mediabridge and Portapow) and normal speed cables and these fast charging plug-in devises, AS WELL AS BEING VERY USEFUL TO OPTIMALLY DIRECT SMALL (3-7 Watt)SOLAR PANELS TO OBTAIN THEIR GREATEST OUTPUTS, due to their low maximum outputs of 5V 0.6A to 5V 1.4A respectively. This is important because many people are opting to carry very small light-weight solar panels for light-weight backpacking (see my wide range of light-weight solar panels on my review of the Goal Zero Nomad 7 and Guide 10 battery charger in Amazon).The author declares that NO CONFLICTS OF INTEREST EXIST in the review of this product or any other product mentioned in this review.

These usb-multimeters provide useful information on the voltage and amperage moving from your usb power source to an electronic device. I recently learned that some electronics are sensitive to your USB source's voltage. It is also useful to see if current continues to flow to the device after it is completely charged. It may not be healthy to leave an expensive electronic item plugged in it it continues to receive current, despite being fully charged and not being turned on. These devices are more useful to me than another far more expensive meter by a big name tool company. The more expensive device, by design, does not show any current less than .5 amps. That fact is in the instruction manual for the other item, but it is fairly well buried and definitely not evident pre-purchase. My big recent-year Galaxy phone is just one device that charges at .5 amps or lower, so being able to see the amperage on your devices was helpful. Your devices also had a nice bright screen and seemed reasonably well made for the low cost.

I have only just begun to explore its uses, and I am quite pleased with its capabilities.
